Pfitzner Performance Gearboxes are delighted to announce that Roger Clark Motorsport has been appointed as the sole UK distributor of its high performance transmission products for Subaru models. The announcement comes as part of PPG’s global strategy to appoint companies that specialise in specific sectors, a move that brings with it a focused approach to the sales and marketing of its products, together with improved customer engagement and after-sales service.
Roger Clark Motorsport was formed in 1991 by British rally legend, the late Roger Clark MBE. Initially building and preparing race and rally cars, during the 2000s the business turned its attentions towards the aftermarket tuning sector and, whilst retaining its motorsport heritage, quickly established itself as one of the leading companies in this rapidly expanding arena.
Having moved into its new, purpose-built premises at Hinckley in Leicestershire in 2011, RCM has since become the UK’s leading supplier of performance parts for Subarus and now exports products all over the world. It also builds, prepares, tunes and maintains customer cars in its state-of-the-art workshops.
But its most revered reputation is that of development, with the most high profile incarnation of its technical innovation clearly demonstrated in the creation of two Subarus: Gobstopper 1 and 2, both of which have won championships and broken records, including setting the fastest time on the hill climb course at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2015.
Having appointed RCM as sole distributors of is Subaru products in the UK, PPG Global Operations Director David Gammon said:
“We are delighted that Roger Clark Motorsport has agreed to become our exclusive UK dealer for our market-leading gear sets and sequential systems for Subarus. RCM’s reputation in the industry and the relationships it builds with its customers is second to none. Technically, the company pays a great deal of attention to detail and, as PPG adopts the same philosophy, we are confident that this new relationship will prove to be a perfect fit.”
RCM’s performance sales director Olly Clark also sees the association with PPG as a partnership with potential:
“Having recently competed in an Impreza fitted with a PPG sequential gearbox, I can honestly say it’s a game-changer. Quite simply, it transformed the performance of the car. Because PPG’s gear sets and sequential systems utilise the manufacturers’ OE casings and many of the factory fitted components can be retained, this makes them ideal for the tuning market, whether they are used on the road, for track days or in a motorsport application. We therefore look forward to working with PPG and helping to develop its position in the UK market.”
Matt Clark, co-director of the business and a highly respected motorsport development engineer, was also impressed with the performance of the PPG system:
“The PPG sequential system provides such an easy and positive gear-change, you could just as well drive the car to shops as you could compete on the track. Because of the speed of activation, a gear-change can be made when cornering with no effect on the stability of the car. Even though it’s better than anything we’ve tried before, with some development at our end, I think there’s even more to come. We are therefore delighted to be involved with PPG and to have the opportunity of introducing its products to our customers.”
